I will complete one painting a week on various sized canvases ranging from 8" by 10" to 18" by 24" throughout the semester. My theme for the series of paintings in which I wish to accomplish are as follows: What is Beauty? What do we, as individuals , consider to be beautiful? For me, as an emerging artist, beauty is found in the human form, whether it would be a close up of a particular model's body part, a particular pose from a model, strands of hair playfully caressing a model's shoulder or draped across their bodys or backs and even something as simple as the numerous kinds of portraits in photographs. I have chosen people in different facets of mood an color to explore a color palette comprised of blues, oranges, reds, violets and yellows. I will be working with analogous and complimentary colors applied in alla primo and impasto oil paints. I have chosen to apply paint to the canvases using various sized brushes and palette knives, with a great effort to consider the idea that color can shape form in a painting and thagt texture of the paint itself can imply dimensionality in a subject, even a human model. My compositions therefore reflect form created by particular use of color, and I seek to understand how color can be used to create different moods and aspects of the human form in oil paints. My work pretty much speaks for itself. I think it is beautiful. I decided to change the name of this gallery from "All Time Favorites Collection" to " Pieces Id Love 2 Paint" because, well , this gallery pretty much consists of pieces that I think are aesthetically beautiful, and I'd love for an oppurtunity to paint them. Of course, that's pending upon approval from the original artist . . . It's quite a hefty list, so you might as well get started browsing.
